Hi to all my Friends and Dev Watchers at D.A !

Yesterday night checking in a random way at Photobucket.com me an my Love Marta aKa Yuki-the-vampire found hundreds of works stolen from DA, including 2 of mines !
We started to check for the nicknames of our friends and artists we are Dev Watching and we found a lot of people posting works done by artists we know !

Luckily after a long time we've spent to write an e-mail to Photobucket, the photos stolen to me were deleted from their server. There was a lot of work to do, a lot of details to give in an e-mail, but it was worth it.

So please if you are bored with an art thievery GO and check out your name ! And check out names of your DA friends! It's possible to find the stolen works because the thieves who are posting them are not even renaming them - so for example we found works stolen from myself because someone posted a file called "colors_by_daaram.jpg".

Let's start a chain reaction, people! If everyone will check for their own name and, let's say, names of five friends even just once every month, the photos will be disappearing and those people who are stealing them will think twice before to post something stolen again!

Help us to fight cause we can win only being TOGETHER!

:megaphone:The link to Photobucket is here photobucket.com

:megaphone:And if you see a work stolen from you HERE you can find an information how to contact Photobucket by e-mail or traditional mail: photobucket.com/copyright

Don't stay silent and don't let people steal your works! they DO NOT have a right to do this!

Thank you so much for your attention

Olivier Daaram

P.S: The content of this Journal is mainly a copy and paste of my love Marta's :iconyuki-the-vampire: last journal issue @: yuki-the-vampire.deviantart.co… I don't have the time to write a second time about the same event and I prefer to react quickly than to write long speeches !

Yes I know, and for me it was even quicker (around 30 minutes), but it's also true that it's always a shock to discover your work under another name on this kind of website !

i'm more concerned about the censors on deviantART really. i'm heartbroken they flagged one of my photos which was of a perfectly innocent moment :(

Yes, I've read what happened to you ! that's a completely ridiculous situation and I feel really sorry for you and your works ! (it also happened to me, not that much but...)
Knowing how much D.A must earn on all the users it's incredible to see them acting like a kind of secret police...or mafia at the same time !

This has peen going on for a while. If you look around, you can find a petition or two dealing with it, and they seem to remove things if you point them out.

Yes it's true ! the main thing is to do the researches and to find those stolen works ! well the e-mail to send to their administrator is so extremely long & boring that I'll remember this experience for quite a long time.
I'm maybe naive but I hate to be stolen.

Eh beh... o_O

I think the only problem is that my Husband is a bit too old and mature to understand your typical teenage way to overreact.

For yourself I can just humbly suggest to try to learn to finish a conversation in a bit nicer way, not leaving a fart-smelling comment with insults and going away.

Have a good night :aww:

Im sorry... but this is not the last comment I made in regards to this conversation. And the fact that you and your husband judge me solely based on my age is rather ignorant.

I found a few of mine...they're not even full resolution though, and since they keep the file names as 'by_whoever' it doesn't look like they're trying to steal them :/ I'd be fine with it, if they actually put a link back to my page or something. I can't find the way to contact the owners of the various albums though. Do you know how?

I consider this as stealing because you never gave any agreement to those people to download your work on one website and to repost it on their own gallery, often it's to get more popularity or to be used as a background at Myspace, Facebook etc...but I think that artists' rights have to be respected, I'm not working hard to be downloaded or my work to be used freely....but you can see this as an advertising for your name & work.
I don't think you'll be able to contact those people, but you'll must open an account at Photobucket and to send an e-Mail at the admin @: [link]

hm...well, they only took some crappy ones hahahaha, and not even full resolution. so...I don't really care (i.e. my lazyness outweighs my care in this matter haha)...I'll keep an eye out for anything more serious

You can't also ask to those thieves to be clever, to have good tastes and / or to be a little bit artist ! ;-)
I only know that I'd be happy if someone was sending to me the links to stolen works of mine, my gallery isn't "stock", but everyone is free to see all this as cool & funny.

Oh maybe you're just lucky not to be ripped on Flickr, but a lot of others are, there was a lot in the dA news awhile ago about this. I have an image on there put up by someone else, but I can't be bothered to do something about it.

But it's your right to send an e-Mail to the Flickr administration to report this Policy Violation isn't it ?
I also checked my nickname at Google image and found others of my pictures submitted without any credits or my agreement ! I'll have to take care about this !

Of course, but it doesn't matter that much too me. It's obvious that the girl who's displaying it in her Flickr account hasn't made it. I check Google now and then as well, and I do have some of my pictures around there in blogs and such. It's annoying and at first when I discover it I always get all worked up, but actually most people have been giving credit and I have never had a case yet..as far as I know..where people openly have taken the credit for my work, so I have decided to not have the trouble. But I understand if others feel differently. If I see a case where someone take credit for my stuff I will most certainly try to do something about it, otherwise I can't be bothered.

I had a case here on dA awhile ago where someone..a very young girl who didn't know better..had used one of my images as a background stock. :| I got very upset but when I asked her to take it down she immediately did and apologized. She didn't understand the search engine and thought it was a piece of stock. That was very disturbing.

I had several stories like that with young people at D.A, my works also used for commercial without my permission...but I'm not here to do a competition to know who's the more copied or stolen, I'm a professional photographer and my rights must be respected.
Basically I wrote this journal to help the other Deviants and that's the most important thing !

Of course, you should do what you feel is right. I'm not saying rights shouldn't be respected, of course they should, I always let people know if I see a possible violation, but then people must decide for themselves what they want to do about it.
